Hey, there's another one. Either it's deeper, or it's not so much a hidden meaning, but a portrait of a man torn apart by his desires to go and do something in the outside world (WINDOW!). Good job.
He lives in the shadows. His back is to the window, not his face. He faces us. But we, too, live in shadow. We cannot see who we are. Only by drawing close to the light can we truly know and be known. And so it is the light, and not the man, that is longing. Longing for all who live in shadow to come out.
I like magic-bean-buyer's idea. It reminds me of Plato's Allegory of the Cave. (see http://faculty.washington.edu/smcohen/320/cave.htm) What is reality?

You and "moomsymarv" are too deep for me...
I like this one. It makes me think of the Father in the story of The Prodigal Son. Good title!
